Greg Boleyn is celebrating 32 years with HMB this month.  Greg serves as the Division Manager for HMB's Montgomery, AL branch office.  Throughout his career, Greg has worked in several offices for HMB, including Frankfort, KY, Charleston, WV and Montgomery, AL.  Greg is also the son of one of HMB's founders, Phillip Boleyn. In honor of Greg's anniversary, we asked him a few questions:

What made you get into civil engineering?

I liked math and science classes; and my dad, Philip Boleyn, was a transportation engineer.  I just naturally followed in his footsteps.  I've worked in the water/wastewater, airport, and highway divisions including some surveying through the years.

Where did you attend college? What did you major in?

I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Civil Engineering degree.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

I've always enjoyed driving on roadways that I've had a hand in designing. Seeing the final product is also very rewarding.

What’s the most interesting part of your job?

Taking all the factors into account and turning this into a road or an improvement. Also watching HMB grow from its beginnings through James Haworth, Fred Meyer, and my dad to a multi-state company and being able to be a part of this by working in the Kentucky, West Virginia, and now Alabama offices.

Which project(s) are you most proud to have worked on in your career? Why?

I'm proud of all the roadway projects I've worked on in several states.  I don't know anyone that enjoys traffic jams or bad roads.  I feel I'm doing my small part to ease the frustration.

What has been your best, worst or funniest moment at HMB?

Mum: What happens at HMB stays at HMB.

What are your hobbies?

Hanging out with my son and daughter and tinkering around with computers, cars, and guitars.

If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only take one item what would it be?

I would take a boat so I could get back home.  But if there was a size restriction I'd have to take a Les Paul guitar.

What’s your favorite movie?

A Christmas Story … my daughter hates it when I pull out the leg lamp at Christmas time.  And does the bully with “yellow eyes” remind you of the Cincinnati Bengals' Andy Dalton, or is it just me?

What’s your favorite TV show?

Top Gear

What would be your dream vacation?

A secluded beach with a guitar.

What superhero would you be and why?

Batman, he has the best car.  But I have no need for that side kick, Robin.

If you could travel by plane, train, automobile or boat, which would you choose?

Plane – it gets you there faster.

What is your favorite genre of music? Do you have a favorite band?

Classic rock and rock blues.  I currently like to listen to Joe Bonamassa.

What’s your favorite type of food? Do you have a favorite restaurant?

While I like steak, seafood, and a good cheeseburger, I seem to eat pizza more often.

What's your favorite sports team? Do you prefer college or professional?

I'm still pulling for the Bengals but in general I like to watch college football.  Go UK, Auburn, and Samford (Sam not Stan).  And if you consider auto racing a sport (as you should), go Will Power.
