Anniversary Interview: John-Michael Pennington

John-Michael Pennington is celebrating 2 years with HMB this month.  John-Michael is an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) in HMB's Nashville, TN office. He provides roadway design on numerous complex projects throughout Tennessee. In honor of John-Michael's anniversary, we asked him a few questions:

What made you get into civil engineering?

I have loved to draw and design things ever since I can remember.  I think the thought of designing something like a bridge in real life is what made me get into civil engineering.  Inheriting some math skills helped my dream become a reality.
Where did you attend college? What did you major in?

I attended Tennessee Technological University from 2008 to 2011, and earned my B.S. in Civil Engineering.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

The guys I work with and the ability for me to help design a project that will be built and used.

If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only take one item what would it be?

A cold drink.

What would be your dream vacation?

Going to a beach with my family.

What is your favorite genre of music? Do you have a favorite band?

Rock is my favorite music, some classic, some garage and folk style, but mostly alternative.   I really enjoy The Raconteurs.
