Ken Sperry serves as a Principal In Charge and Project Manager in the Highway Design Division. Ken joined HMB in 2006 after retiring from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet with over twenty years of experience. Ken held a number of positions within the Cabinet ranging from design engineer responsible for developing highway plans to the Deputy State Highway Engineer responsible for all project development including highway design, structures design, right of way acquisition, utility relocation, environmental analysis and professional services. Ken was ultimately responsible for leading the KYTC project development staff (over 300) to record breaking construction lettings for three straight years. He also participated in marrying Budget & Engineering departments within KYTC to switch from authorization based to cash flow budgeting. He led the use of Project Managers and implemented and participated in teaching the Project Manager Academy. Ken helped lead KYTC’s five design-build pilot projects. He was on the selection committee, dealt with procurement process and was involved as a decision maker during the design and construction. With HMB, Ken has been intimately involved with many high profile projects, including the Louisville Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project. Ken received a civil engineering degree and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky and is licensed professional engineer in Kentucky.
