Pond Creek Road over the Russell Fork (Pike County, KY)

Home / Projects / Pond Creek Road over the Russell Fork (Pike County, KY)

The project is located on US 460/KY 80 in Pike County, Kentucky. The purpose of the project is to improve the sight distance for drivers on US 460/KY 80 as well as at the intersection on Pond Creek Road, and also add a left turn lane on US 460/KY 80. The construction of a new bridge on Pond Creek Road over the Russell Fork and CSX Railroad will eliminate the need to use an often flooded bridge and an at grade crossing with limited sight distance. The new alignment utilizes a 765’ long, 145’-190’-190’-145’-95’ span welded, steel, plate girder bridge. A retaining wall was used on the east side of US 460/KY 80 to minimize the impacts to a residence and a cemetery.
