Farmdale Water & Sewer District’s: Multiple Water & Wastewater Projects (Franklin County, KY)

HMB has completed several water and wastewater projects for the Farmdale Water District and Farmdale Sanitation District, including:

Water Line Upgrade Projects

HMB has completed water line upgrades in the BensonValley area, as well as the upgrade of approximately 30,000 feet of 6” water main along Mills Lane, Ninevah Road and Old Lawrenceburg Road.

Water Storage Tank Project

HMB provided design for a new 500,000 gallon elevated storage tank.  The tank will bring the district into compliance with PSC regulations and will provide fire protection to the StewartHomeSchool.  This project has included extensive hydraulic analysis, negotiations with the District’s water supplier, design of a new pump station and radio read meters throughout the district’s system.

Facilities Plan Update

HMB recently entered into a joint contract to provide a 20-year plan with recommendations and cost estimates for providing sanitary sewer service to all of southern Franklin County.  HMB studied alternatives including pumping sewage to Frankfort and/or Lawrenceburg’s existing wastewater treatment plants and construction of a new 0.75 MGD wastewater treatment plant at Farmdale.  Design funding has been obtained and is underway.

Wastewater System Development Project

HMB is currently in the design phase for the development of a completely new public wastewater system in southern Franklin County, per the recommendations of the Facility Plan.  Using grant funds HMB helped secure, design engineering is underway for a new 0.75 MGD Oxidation Ditch WWTP.  HMB has also worked with EPA Region IV to structure an additional SPAP Grant such that it may be used for the planning and design of the “Backbone” Interceptor and Collector Sewer lines needed to remove three (3) existing troublesome package – style WWTP’s from service and convey their flow to new Farmdale WWTP.
