AL-69 Road Widening – Tuscaloosa, AL

HMB developed a conceptual design for the widening on SR-69 from I-59/20 to Mimosa Park Road and Skyland Boulevard from Oscar Baxter Drive to Greensboro Avenue. The existing corridor was a four-lane divided highway and was widened to six lanes. In addition, the first signalized intersection south of I-59/20 was grade separated to help alleviate spillback onto the interstate ramps. HMB performed analysis and design for 22 individual storm sewer networks, 3 multi-barrel box culverts, and numerous other small drainage structures serving the roadside and property entrances. HMB worked diligently with both ALDOT and the City of Tuscaloosa to deliver a high-quality design.
